Exploring The Hudson Valley

It’s been 10 days since I posted, and I have so much to write about!

My friend Bailey, who I’ve known since she was 6, and who is also a fiddler, came to spend the week with Andy and I.

(I wish I had known this munchkin when she was this age!)

The great thing about having a friend visit, especially a younger person, is that you go out of your way to do the things you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t been able to prioritize when it’s just to please yourself. I’ve been living in the Hudson Valley for almost 3 years now, and I’ve seen and experienced more in the past week than I have in the entire time I’ve been calling this beautiful region home.

One of the first things we did was to make sushi together.

The next night, we watched Andy play Soul Jazz at Quinn’s (they play every Wednesday)

On Thursday, Andy and I had a gig by the river in Beacon…

On Friday we played fiddle at a friend’s wedding and went to a farm…

On Saturday we went to Lake Taghkanic State Park and enjoyed the beach…

And on Sunday we participated in a guided “Mushroom ID Walk”, led by John at Catskill Fungi.

It’s been a great week. Tomorrow I’m heading up to Canandaigua to play a show, and then Montreal to play a show and visit with my family. I’m so excited!
